2、nglongPagoda,attheBeijingOlympicPark.TheLinglongPagodaorTower,whichtranslatesasDelicateTower,wasbuiltasthemediacenterforthe2008BeijingOlympics,andhousedinternationalbroadcastingstudiosthroughoutboththe2008summergames,and2022wintergames.ThetowersitsroughlyinthecenteroftheOlympicGreenareaandgivessweep
3、ingviewsofthewidercityscape,anditwasfromthisvantagepointthatWesetouttocatchalightshowthatwasbeingprojectedfromtheOlympicTowertothenorth.WiththeOlympicToweritselfbeinganobservationdeck,thisshootwasauniquechancetogetanabovegroundviewofthetoweritselfratherthanaviewfromwithinit.Withadesigninspiredbyblad
4、esofglassandthefiveOlympicrings(thatmanywouldarguelookmorelikemassivenailshammeredintotheground),theOlympicTowerwasopenedin2015andstands258meterstall.Evenduringtheday,thetowerisabeautifullydesignedpieceofarchitecture,butitstruespectaclewasbroughttolifeaftersunsetwhenthelightshowbegan.Theshiftingcolo
5、rsandpatternshighlightthesheerscaleofthetoweramongthetreesscatteredaroundtheOlympicGreen,andwitnessingthisfromtheLinglongToweremphasizedthisimpressivearchitecturalfeat.Butturningawayfromthetower,thereisstillmuchtocatchtheeye.TothesouthofourviewpointwastheBeijingNationalStadiumandAquaticsCentre,collo
6、quiallyknownastheBird,sNestandtheWaterorIceCube,andthoughWedidnthavethevisibilitytoseeitonthisparticularoccasion,oneofthemostfascinatingdesignelementsofthisareaisfarolderthananythingintheOlympicGreenarea.IfonewastolooksouthfromtheOlympicGreenundertherightweatherconditions,therewouldbeaclearviewofthe
7、city,sCentralAxis.Withmorethan700yearsofhistory,thisconcourseruns7.8kilometersfromnorthtosouthandcontainsmanyofthecapitalsmostfamouslandmarks.ThisbalancebetweentheancientandmodernisatestamenttothethoughtandrespectforhistorythatwentintothedesignoftheOlympicGreen.AsIgenerallyseekoutthehistoricallocati
