2、eseveralreasonswhysalvageloggingisbeneficialbothtoadamagedforestandtotheeconomy.Firstzafteradevastatingfirezforestsarechokedwithdeadtrees.Ifthetreesarenotremoved,theywilltakeyearstodecompose;inthemeantime,nonewtreescangrowinthecrampedspaces.Salvagelogging,however,removestheremainsofdeadtreesandmakes

3、roomforfreshgrowthimmediately,whichislikelytohelpforestareasrecoverfromthedisaster.Also,deadtreesdomorethanjusttakeupspace.Decayingwoodisahighlysuitablehabitatforinsectssuchasthesprucebarkbeetle,whichinlargenumberscandamageIivezhealthysprucetrees.Sobyremovingrottingwood,salvagelogginghelpsminimizeth

4、edangersofinsectinfestation,thuscontributingtothehealthoftheforest.ThirdandIastzsalvagelogginghaseconomicbenefits.Manyindustriesdependupontheforestsfortheirproduction,andbecauseofthisafirecanhaveaveryharmfuleffectontheeconomy.Often,however,thetreesthathavebeendamagedbynaturaldisastersstillcanprovide
